but today was nice. the weather was good, the vibes were good. i bumped into a band The Muslims who i knew from a show in austin, what a small world!
but then the drinks were flowing and im a little drink-flowed right now

yesterday on the plane a lady was talking to a guy and said "i dated this guy that lived there. He had big lips and an ugly nose" can you imagine describing your ex like that?

Blog!

I'm gonna start blogging. I will post things like: mottos, slogans, suggestions, reviews, criticisms, jokes, finger-points, song/story ideas, stories, pictures of women that are attractive, pictures of men that are unattractive, political humor (NOT!), how-to guides, and whatever else pops up in this blogger's head.

The other day I thought to myself "sometimes the world feels like a pissing contest and its like i have a bladder infection". I said this around my roommate Will, to see what the reaction would be. The reaction was not good. He got silent for a second and then started a new conversation. He kind of made a "eww, bad smell face" but a real subtle one. I think I learned a lot.

I'm about to watch a documentary about Abu Graib. The other day my co-worker was doing a crossword puzzle and the questions was about Apu from the Simpsons, and the answer was "octuplet". What do you call the burial site of that particular simpsons character? APU GRAVE

so, really, this is just going to be a wasteland of bad jokes

Dave Chappelle is a funny guy. I watched his Inside the Actor Studio today. It made me want to be funnier, blacker and more of a laid back cigarette smoker.

When I came to college, I really liked John Cusack. He had a steady stream of successes as an adult actor by working on some good movies like Thin Red Line, Being John Malkovich, Cradle Will Rock, etc. Since then, this is what he has put out:
Igor (2008) (voice) .... Igor
War, Inc. (2008) .... Brand Hauser
Summerhood (2008) (uncredited) .... Narrator
Martian Child (2007) .... David
1408 (2007) .... Mike Enslin
Grace Is Gone (2007) .... Stanley Philipps
The Contract (2006/I) .... Ray
The Ice Harvest (2005) .... Charlie
Must Love Dogs (2005) .... Jake
Runaway Jury (2003) .... Nicholas Easter
Identity (2003) .... Ed
Max (2002/I) .... Max Rothman
Serendipity (2001) .... Jonathan Trager
America's Sweethearts (2001) .... Eddie Thomas

John Cusack, you lost it man!

Squirrels are funnier than you!

What's a folk song?

"A folk song is usually seen as the authentic expression of a way of life now, past or about to disappear (or in some cases, to be preserved or somehow revived)."

I like this concept of creating a piece of art that focuses on how the "current" way of life, as in when the song is written, is about to disappear. The song being used to continue on a tradition. Making a conscious effort in the now to ensure that the future confronts and experiences something from its past. Art as a means of keeping the blood pumping through the veins of an era. A minor time travel/history book created via a few simple chords and a stream of carefully chosen words
I have 1 month left of being 22. And then I will be 23.

Hmmmm

I don't want to sound overly paranoid, but if last night's power outtage wasn't alarming enough, today my car just stopped working. There's gas in it. There's oil in it. The battery is fine. It passed an inspection last week. And yet now it will not work. I smell sabotage! If you creeps that are attempting to ruin my life are reading this, chill out!

Yesterday I wrote 5 or 6 long paragraphs about a topic that I have been thinking a lot about lately. This took quite a bit of thought and research and was going to be the beginning of a blog that would ideally journal some of the things swirling around this big head of mine. I wasn't completely finished with the essay (which was about my own instinctual reactions and relations with laughter and violence and which i will perhaps attempt to write about again some day) when I left to go meet up with some friends. When I returned to my apartment late late late in the night, I discovered that my power, and therefore my computer, were shut off. There had been no storms, so I had no clue why this would be happening. I went outside to look at the power boxes for all of the units in my apartment complex. What I found was somewhat surprising. All of the boxes were closed except for one; apartment 209. Who knows what time, but some time last night somebody came to the power boxes, opened up the one connected to my apartment and flipped the power off. In doing so they really threw off my momentum in getting back to writing. I probably won't even bother retyping what I had written, but it was by far the most thoughtful and intense writing I had done in probably 8 months. I am frustrated.
